Leaf confetti was introduced to me by KidsNatureClub.com. A few days after I saw the idea on their Instagram page, my neighbor got their trees trimmed. This meant we had access to many beautiful leaves to try out this project. My kiddos loved sitting at the table and punching holes through the leaves. The activity worked out so well, that we went on a nature walk and collected the changing colored maple leaves we found on the sidewalk. Again, this activity was a huge success with the kiddos and now we are using the confetti for other projects.
A few hints to make this activity more successful:
- Flat dry leaves are best because they are more like paper and the hole punches easier.
- If you are not planning on using the confetti soon, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Regular circle hole punch works great. Shaped hole punches are super fun.
A few uses for the confetti:
- Parties, of course. I have seen it listed many times as wedding favors.
- Decorations for laminated projects like bookmarks. (This idea came from OutdoorsMama.Blog)
