The nature loom in the picture above was instigated by a rainy day. I was not prepared for rain that day and so when I looked outside and saw puddles, I began a panic search on Pinterest as to what to do with the kiddos. That is when I came across the idea of a Nature Loom. It is a very similar to a regular loom but the yarn is spaced apart more so that we can add nature pieces to it later.
I got amazing photo instructions on how to create these amazing things from Craftiments.com. (If you keep reading her blog post you will also see there is a super fun backyard s’more activity that I can’t wait to try with my kids.)
The great thing about this loom, is that after the kiddos weave the yarn and create the loom, the real fun begins. The kids get to search the backyard and find nature items to decorate and fill their loom.
The only thing you need is twigs, yard, and nature finds to fill it. You may notice ours has floral ribbon on it as well. Believe it or not, we found these pieces stored away behind a patio chair. It much have fallen off of something, but it made for a great addition to our loom.
I was so excited by the final project we actually made a couple of them and I hung them on my patio wall.
